BISMARCK, N.D. – Dickinson State University continued its athletic excellence in 2024-25, capturing its fourth North Star Athletic Association Commissioner's Cup and third in as many seasons.
The Blue Hawks secured the all-sports trophy after sweeping the NSAA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted in Dickinson on May 8-9. The final standings were released by the NSAA office following the conclusion of all spring championship events.
Dickinson State finished with 64 total points, narrowly holding off the University of Jamestown, which earned 62.75.
Over the course of the academic year, the Blue Hawks claimed five NSAA titles: football, men's basketball, women's indoor track & field, and both men's and women's outdoor track & field. That balanced success across seasons and sports helped DSU maintain its place atop the all-sports standings.
The NSAA Commissioner's Cup is awarded to the institution that accumulates the most points based on regular-season finishes and championship performances. Sports with a regular-season champion earn 1.5 points per place, while single-event championships like track & field, cross country, and golf are scored with 1 point per place.
Jamestown finished second behind Dickinson State, claiming the softball regular-season title and a share of the volleyball crown. Dakota State placed third with 55.25 points, followed by Bellevue (51.75), Valley City State (37.75), and Mayville State (28.5).
This year's Commissioner's Cup win marks Dickinson State's fourth overall and third straight, adding to previous titles in 2020-21, 2022-23, and 2023-24.
