Adekoye set to represent Africa, and DSU, at Senior World Wrestling Championships

DICKINSON, N.D. — Blue Hawk sophomore Jumoke Adekoye is set to represent Dickinson State University and her home continent at the 2025 Senior World Wrestling Championships, held September 13–21 in Zagreb, Croatia. Adekoye will compete in the 59kg women's freestyle bracket, with matches scheduled for September 15–16.

Currently seeded No. 7 in the world, Adekoye enters the global stage as one of the top contenders in her weight class—a rare accomplishment for any collegiate wrestler, let alone a sophomore.

"To have an athlete ranked among the top 10 in the world on our roster is something truly special," said DSU Head Women's Wrestling Coach Tyson Spinger. "Jumoke is a once-in-a-lifetime competitor. She's not just representing our university—she's representing what this program is becoming."

Adekoye's rise has been meteoric. After capturing the 2025 NAIA National Championship, she continued her dominance on the international circuit by winning the African Continental Championship, earning her place at the Senior World Championships. Her participation marks a significant milestone for both the individual and the program, which is still in its early years.

"Jumoke is setting the standard for what can be achieved here at Dickinson State," Spinger added. "She's showing the world that Blue Hawks can compete—and win—at the highest levels."
