DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State closed out its home schedule Wednesday night with a 28-14 dual victory over the University of Jamestown at Scott Gymnasium. The dual also served as Senior Night for the Blue Hawks, who honored their senior student-athletes prior to the 6 p.m. start. The Blue Hawks set the tone early, building a lead through the opening weights. The 103-pound bout resulted in a double forfeit before Dickinson State capitalized on forfeits at 110 and 117 pounds. Myriam Riley and Mikayla Jardine were each awarded victories, giving DSU an early 12-0 advantage.
At 124 pounds, Jazmine Turner extended the lead with a fall over Kiera Hagman in 1:53. Jumoke Adekoye followed at 131 pounds with a 10-0 technical fall over Abby Ewing in 24 seconds, pushing the Blue Hawk margin to 22-0 midway through the dual. Jamestown responded at 138 pounds as Nora Houglum earned a 6-2 decision over Kaytlin McAnelly to put the Jimmies on the board. At 145 pounds, Ann Marie Meiman recorded a fall over Paisley Jaeger in 1:48, trimming the deficit to 22-9. Dickinson State regained momentum at 160 pounds with Lacoda Kiser receiving a forfeit victory to increase the lead to 28-9.
Jamestown closed the gap at 180 pounds when Emily Novak secured a fall over Bridgette Price in 55 seconds, making the team score 28-14 heading into the final match. At 207 pounds, Isabella Urias sealed the dual for the Blue Hawks with an 8-1 decision over Celia Jaeger. Urias controlled the pace throughout the match, adding the final three team points to secure the 28-14 result.
Dickinson State finished the night with four contested victories, including a fall and a technical fall, along with three forfeit wins. The Blue Hawks held Jamestown to two wins by fall and one decision.
Prior to competition, Dickinson State recognized its senior class for its contributions to the program. Jenna Gerhardt and Mikayla Jardine were honored and helped guide the Blue Hawks through another competitive season. Wednesday's victory marked a positive close to the home portion of the schedule as the team continues preparations for postseason competition.
Dickinson State improves its dual record with the win and will now turn its attention to upcoming road competition.
