DICKINSON, N.D. — Dickinson State continued its strong conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Dakota State on Monday at Bravera Field, earning an 8-0 run-rule victory in game one and a 5-0 shutout in game two.
Game One: Dickinson State 8, Dakota State 0 (5 inn.)
Dickinson State (31-12) used consistent offense and capitalized on defensive miscues to secure a run-rule win behind a complete-game performance from Reannan Butler.
The Blue Hawks opened the scoring in the first inning when Stocktyn Stevenson reached on an error, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a sacrifice bunt from Brooke Lijewski.
Dickinson State added another run in the third inning. Stevenson again reached base and moved into scoring position before Lijewski delivered an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Blue Hawks broke the game open in the fourth inning with four runs. Ayaka Tajima drove in a run with a double, and Celina Wilharm followed with a two-run triple. Lijewski added an RBI single later in the inning to push the lead to 6-0.
Dickinson State added two more runs in the fifth inning. Baylee Berg doubled and later scored on a double by Viennah Meyer, and Allyson Farrington followed with an RBI double to cap the scoring at 8-0.
Butler earned the win, allowing three hits over five shutout innings while striking out one. Dickinson State totaled nine hits in the game, with Lijewski driving in three runs and Wilharm adding two RBIs.
Game Two: Dickinson State 5, Dakota State 0
Dickinson State (32-12) completed the sweep behind a complete-game shutout from Ava Jahner.
The Blue Hawks took an early lead in the first inning. Celina Wilharm drew a walk, stole second, and scored on an RBI double from Kiley Hubby to make it 1-0.
Dickinson State added a run in the fourth inning when Brooke Lijewski led off with a solo home run to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Blue Hawks created separation in the fifth inning, drawing three walks and plating two runs. Hubby drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk, and Octavia Meyer followed with another bases-loaded walk to make it 4-0.
Dickinson State added an insurance run in the sixth inning. Viennah Meyer singled and later scored on an RBI single from Allyson Farrington to push the lead to 5-0.
Jahner earned the win, allowing six hits over seven innings while striking out four and walking two. She worked through multiple scoring threats and kept Dakota State off the board throughout.
Lijewski led the offense with two hits, including a home run, while Hubby finished with two hits and two RBIs. Dickinson State totaled nine hits and drew five walks in the game.
Dickinson State will look to continue its momentum as conference play continues against Bellevue University April 24th- 25th in Bellevue, NE.
