DICKINSON, N.D. — No. 3 seed Dickinson State opened the Frontier Conference Tournament with a 14-4 win over No. 6 Bismarck State on Thursday at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark.
Luis Rodriguez went 4 for 4 with a home run, four runs scored and two RBIs. Jaden Salazar added three hits, including a three-run home run, and Jadyn Roberts hit a two-run home run.
Mason Manning earned the win, allowing four runs on six hits with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Jerry Santiago Jr. threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
DSU scored twice in the first, twice in the second and led 9-0 after five innings. Bismarck State answered with four runs in the sixth, but the Blue Hawks scored two in the bottom half and three more in the seventh to end it.
Moses Dokes finished with three RBIs, while Wyatt Wilharm drove in two runs on sacrifice flies. Jace Buchanan also drove in a run.
Dickinson State finished with 12 hits and no errors. Bismarck State had six hits and two errors.
The Blue Hawks advance to face No. 2 seed Valley City State at 7 p.m. Thursday in Dickinson.
