Blue Hawks Lose to the Vikings in Four

Valley City, ND- The Blue Hawks lose in four to Valley City State University.

The Blue Hawks came out swinging in the first set rallying back and tied the game up 20-20. The Vikings took a timeout and went on a run scoring five of the next six points. Going into the second set the Blue Hawks fell early and could not quite recover. The third set the Blue Hawks would rally back building a 13-4 lead over the Vikings and taking the set 25-14. The Blue Hawks hit a .375 in this set. The fourth set DSU went down in the beginning and made a late run, but the margin was too great to overcome.

"I thought we executed well in the third set. We have a couple of areas we still need to work on, but it is exciting watching our offense start to click," stated head coach Jennifer Hartman.

For the match, Dickinson State hit a .179 with sophomore Alyssa Wisher leading with way with nine kills. Cassie North and Kylie Hadley each added an additional six kills. Keera Stookey and Karlie Cleveland each had 10 assists.

On defense, the Blue Hawks had eight total blocks including Alyssa Wisher with three, Kadara Marshall with two, and Cassie North with two. On defense, Makenzie Digesualdo had nine digs and Alli Hert added six.

Next on the schedule, the Blue Hawk have their home opener and "Stanton Strong Night," against Briercrest University on Friday, September 14, 2018. The Blue Hawk Volleyball teams asks that you wear gray in support of brain cancer awareness.
