Blue Hawk Notes
Allison Reaches 300 Digs

Aubrey Allison reached 303 digs this season with 12 against Montana Western on Oct. 17. She also leads the Blue Hawks with 244 kills, giving Dickinson State a 240-kill, 300-dig producer heading into the final six conference matches.

Kogolshak Surpasses 2,650 Assists

Rylee Kogolshak has 762 assists in 2026 and 2,654 across her three Dickinson State seasons, following 841 in 2024 and 1,051 in 2025. She matched her season high with 47 assists against Montana Western, after also setting 47 at Bismarck State Oct. 14.

Pallone Leads at the Net

Carmen Pallone leads Dickinson State with 76.5 blocks this season. She contributed 17 kills on .311 hitting, two solo blocks and four block assists against Montana Western, and has 240 kills this fall. Her published 2024-26 seasons total 210.5 blocks.

Floy Emerges as Another Scoring Option

Cate Floy produced 16 kills on .308 hitting in Saturday’s five-set match with Montana Western. Floy and Pallone combined for 33 kills and both hit above .300, giving the Blue Hawks an efficient front-row pairing heading into the road weekend.

Back-to-Back Comebacks

Dickinson State erased a 2-0 deficit against Montana Western, winning the third and fourth sets 25-17 and 25-21 before falling 15-13 in the fifth. The Blue Hawks have now played five five-set Frontier matches this season, three of them since Sept. 19.

Late-Fifth-Set Resolve

Trailing Montana Western 13-10 in the fifth, Dickinson State tied the set at 13 on kills by Allison and Floy and a Bulldog error. Western won the next two rallies. The close finish followed a five-set loss at Bismarck State earlier in the week.

A Breakthrough Against Providence

Dickinson State’s Sept. 19 five-set comeback over then-No. 8 Providence was the program’s first win in the recorded series. It was also the second straight season the Blue Hawks beat a top-10 opponent at Scott Gymnasium.

Fernandez Sets the Dig Standard

Geraldyne Fernandez has the Blue Hawks’ single-match high with 37 digs against Dakota State on Oct. 10. She added 33 at Bismarck State and 24 against Montana Western, producing 94 digs in those three five-set matches.

The Block Remains a Strength

Dickinson State totaled 165.5 team blocks in its first 23 matches, averaging 1.92 per set. The Blue Hawks recorded a season-high 15 against Providence on Sept. 19, an important precedent entering the rematch with the Argos.

Final Road-and-Home Stretch

Six Frontier matches remain. This weekend’s trips to Great Falls and Havre are followed by home matches against Valley City State and Mayville State on Oct. 29-30 and road matches at Carroll and Rocky Mountain on Nov. 6-7.

Storylines to Watch
Back to the Site of an Historic Upset

Dickinson State returns the trip to Providence after rallying from two sets down to beat the then-No. 8 Argos Sept. 19 in Dickinson, 24-26, 25-27, 25-18, 26-24, 15-12. The Blue Hawks are seeking their first road victory against Providence in the recorded series.

Argos Have Won Six Straight

Providence enters Friday 18-5 overall and 12-4 in the Frontier, riding a six-match winning streak. Its most recent victories came at Valley City State and Mayville State last weekend. The Argos are listed second in the current conference standings.

A Must-Watch Match in Havre

MSU-Northern is 4-12 in Frontier play, one conference win behind Dickinson State at 5-11. Saturday is a direct matchup between teams fighting to move toward the eighth-place postseason cutoff.

The First Meeting with Northern

Dickinson State defeated MSU-Northern 3-1 at Scott Gymnasium Sept. 18, winning 25-20, 20-25, 25-19 and 25-15. The Blue Hawks accumulated 50 kills, 80 digs and nine blocks while limiting Northern to .070 hitting.

Eighth Place Is One Win Away

Valley City State occupies eighth place at 6-10, with Dickinson State ninth at 5-11. The teams will meet in Dickinson on Oct. 29, but the Blue Hawks can improve their position before then on this weekend’s two-match road trip.

Rallying After the First Two Sets

Two of the Blue Hawks’ most memorable performances came after 0-2 starts: a five-set victory over Providence and a five-set loss to Montana Western. Finishing tight sets and creating an earlier offensive rhythm are critical points heading into the rematches.

A Challenging Road Finish

The Blue Hawks play four of their final six Frontier matches away from Dickinson: Providence, MSU-Northern, Carroll and Rocky Mountain. The two Scott Gymnasium dates between those road weekends come against Valley City State and Mayville State.

First-Meeting Results Give a Roadmap

Dickinson State defeated both of this week’s opponents at Scott Gymnasium in September. Providence was a 3-2 reverse sweep, and Northern was a 3-1 win. The weekend measures whether those home performances can translate to Great Falls and Havre.

Postseason Race

The top eight teams qualify for the Nov. 12-14 Frontier Conference Tournament at the PE Center in Helena, Mont. Dickinson State enters the week ninth at 5-11, one conference win behind eighth-place Valley City State with six matches remaining.

One Win Below the Cutoff

Valley City State holds the eighth-place position at 6-10, with Dickinson State ninth at 5-11. That is a one-win gap entering this week, not a guaranteed tiebreaker outcome.

Northern Is a Direct Rival

Saturday’s opponent, MSU-Northern, is 4-12 and sits 10th. A Dickinson State victory in Havre would both add to the Blue Hawks’ record and deny a direct competitor a conference win.

The Valley City Rematch Awaits

Dickinson State hosts Valley City State Oct. 29, after losing the first meeting 3-0 in Valley City on Oct. 2. The return match provides a crucial opportunity to change the head-to-head picture.

Six Conference Chances Remain

The remaining schedule is at Providence (Oct. 23), at MSU-Northern (Oct. 24), Valley City State (Oct. 29), Mayville State (Oct. 30), at Carroll (Nov. 6) and at Rocky Mountain (Nov. 7). Four matches are away, two at home.
