Blue Hawks fall to Bruins at home

Dickinson, ND- the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks hosted the Bellevue University Bruins in the second conference game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blue Hawks were the first to get the lead and increased it 11-4 with fifteen minutes left in the half. Halfway into the first half the Blue Hawks were shooting 5-6 from the free throw line giving them a 16-12 lead. With nine minutes left, the Blue Hawks held a 20-12 lead. Malcohm Hill had a huge dunk to hold the Blue Hawk lead 31-28. The Blue Hawks finished the half strong, leading 36-33.

After halftime, the Bruins came out strong and tied the game 40-40. With 16:55 left to play, the Bruins took the lead, 40-42. A free throw made by Kenny Jackson tied the game 49-49 and on the next possession, a steal and fast break drunk by Malcohm Hill gave the Hawks the lead 51-49. Travon Hamilton drained a three-pointer giving the Hawks another 59-58 lead. With three minutes left in the game, the Blue Hawks were down 71-77. The Blue Hawks went on to lose, 75-78.

TEAM STATS

As a team, the Blue Hawks shot 50.9% (27-53) in field goals, 31.3% from the three-point line (5-16), and 66.7% (16-24) from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks had nine assists total. On defense, the Hawks collected 27 rebounds.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Leading the way on offense was Malcohm Hill with 15 points. Hill was 7-10 in field goals. Right behind Hill was teammate Kenny Jackson with 14 points. Donte Walker had another 12 points and Travon Hamilton had ten points. Both Nick Wurm and Kenny Jackson had two assists.

On defense, Malcohm Hill led the way with ten rebounds. Jalon Tinnin had five rebounds as well.

Next on the schedule, the Blue Hawks are back at home tomorrow as they host the Dakota State University Trojans starting at 5pm MST.
