DSU Men's Basketball Fall to Dakota Wesleyan

Dickinson, ND – Dickinson State University Men's basketball traveled to Mitchell, South Dakota to face the Dakota Wesleyan University Tigers on Saturday. Dakota Wesleyan, a team that is receiving votes to be ranked in the country, took care of business on their home floor.

In the first half, the Tigers started off scorching hot from the field shooting a perfect 14/14 to start the game with their first miss coming at 11:15 in the contest. Dakota Wesleyan would end the half with 54 points on 24 – 36 shooting. Dickinson struggled to get going on the offensive end, taking good shots but not getting anything to fall. The Blue Hawks would end the half with 18 points on 8 – 35 shooting from.

Dickinson came out much better in the second half. Bryce Knox (SR/Los Angeles, CA) would score 14 of his 19 points in the second half, and Aushanti Potts-Woods (SR/Tacoma, WA) scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half. The Blue Hawks were only out-scored by 1 point (41 – 42), shooting a much better 51.7 % from the field on 15 – 29 shooting. Despite their efforts in the second half, too much damage was done in the first half, and the Tigers would walk away with a 96 – 59 victory.

For the Blue Hawks, leading all scorers was Bryce Knox with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Aushanti Potts-Woods scored 14 points. Josiah Haaland (SO/Rathdrum, ID) finished with 9 points. Jalon Tinnin (SR/Lancaster, CA) chipped in 6 points. John Evans (FR/Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada ) and Cobe Begger (SO/Wibaux, MT) both finished with 4 points. Cody Perkins (SO/Mott, ND) chipped in 3 points. And Tyce Dahlberg (FR/Buffalo, WY ) finished with 2 points.

For the DWU Tigers, Jeffrey Schuch scored 16 points. Ace Zorr finished with 14 points. Koln Oppold had a double-double scoring 12 points and getting 13 rebounds. Alan Kikwaki finished with 11 points. And Nick Wittler finished with 10 points.

The Blue Hawks finished with 23 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 9 turnovers, while the Tigers finished with 42 rebounds, 13 assists, 4 steals, and 6 turnovers.

The Blue Hawks are now 0-3 and will be on the road again next weekend to play against two Frontier Conference opponents. They play Montana Tech at 5 pm (MT) on Thursday, November 4th, and then head to Montana Western on Friday, November 5th, and play at 4 pm (MT).
