CASSELTON, ND- The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Softball team defeated the Mayville State University Comets and the Doane University Tigers on Thursday, March 18th.
Game 1: (DSU 5, MSU 1)

Paisley Garcia (FR/Las Vegas, NV) led the Blue Hawks to a 5-1 victory on the rubber against the Mayville State Comets. Garcia gave up one run on four hits over seven innings while striking out three Comets. The Blue Hawks got things started in the first inning, with a double by Dallis Mitchell (FR/Phoenix, AZ) on a 1-1 count scoring one run. DSU would score two more runs in the third inning, one in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Sidney Fairbanks took the loss for the Comets, while giving up five runs on 12 hits over seven innings and striking out two. Offensively the Blue Hawks were led by Trinity Anderson (JR/Paradise, UT) who went 3-4 at the plate with three hits and 1 run while Hailey Enriquez (SO/Sparks, NV) tallied 4 RBI's. Dallis Mitchell, Rhea Paiva (SO/Las Vegas, NV) and Kennedy Kuntz (FR/Dickinson, ND) all collected multiple hits for the Blue Hawks.
Game 2: (DSU 3, DU 0)

Madeline Peralta (SO/El Monte, CA) dominated on the rubber by throwing a one-hit victory against the Doane University Tigers. Hailey Enriquez tabbed the Blue Hawks first run of the game on a single to third base by Katelyn Kubitschek (JR/Phoenix, AZ ). In the third inning, Olivia Hanke (JR/San Deigo, CA) entered the game as a courtesy runner for Enriquez. Kubitschek doubled on a line drive to right field and scores Hanke. Kubitschek advanced to third base on the throw and stole home shortly after. A single by Haley Kennedy, was the only hit recorded for the Tigers.
Offensively, the Blue Hawks were led at the plate by Kubitschek going 3-for-3 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Anderson, Paiva, Enriquez, Alison Ellertson and Madison Stephens (FR/Las Vegas, NV) all collected one hit throughout the game.
The Blue Hawks face the Doane Tigers in another non-conference competition on March 19th in Cassleton, ND at 1 pm (MT) followed by a non-conference game against the Mayville State Comets at 3pm (MT).
