DICKINSON, ND-The Dickinson State University Volleyball team picked up their first win of the season against Waldorf University on Saturday, September 25. The Blue Hawks defeated the Warriors, 3-1.
Dickinson State won the first set 25-18, lost the second set 13-25, won the third 25-23, and won the fourth 31-29.
Leading the way for Dickinson State was Mackenna Johnson (SR/Grantsburg, WI ) with 13 kills and seven digs. Baylie Dashner (SR/Palm Desert, CA) was right behind her with 12 kills and six digs. Madison Wahl (FR/Glendive, MT) added eight kills and Hannah Lord (SR/Vancouver, WA) with seven. Bailey Pearcy (JR/Glendive, MT) passed out 41 assists and had eight digs for her team. Thayna Birimba (SR/Natal, Brazil) had seven digs in their win against Waldorf.
Annie Stotlar led the way for Waldorf with 18 kills. Abygail Wood added 10 kills and Alisha Schaefer nine. Charlotte Wright had five kills for her team. Kaitlyn Bakke passed out 41 assists and had six digs for the Warriors. Kaylee Kidd had 10 digs in their loss against Dickinson State.
"I am so proud of my team and how they focused, dug deep, and battled for each and every point today" stated DSU Volleyball Head Coach Shari Hewson. "I told them from the beginning it was all about playing our game today, and that is exactly what they did."
The Blue Hawks are now 1-15 on the season.
DSU will be back in action on October 1st when they travel to Bellevue, NE to take on the Bellevue University Bruins.
