DICKINSON - McKenzie Johnson and Kayden Steele each had 13 points , and Samantha Oase had nine points and eight rebounds, to lead the Blue Hawks (4-4) as 12 players found the scoring column in an 84-37 win over Oak Hills Christian College (3-2).
Dickinson State came out on fire in the first quarter, jumping out to a 15-5 lead, with 9 of those points coming on three-pointers from Johnson. The ball was moving with a purpose all quarter, as the Blue Hawks assisted on 11 of their 13 baskets in the quarter. Eight of those made shots came from deep, as the Blue Hawks lit up the net with a 61.5 percent three-point percentage in the opening 10 minutes. Lindsay Peterson matched Johnson with 9 points in the quarter, all on threes, while Steele added eight.
The second quarter saw the Blue Hawks go ice cold from deep, shooting only 1-11 from beyond the line, but they outrebounded the Wolfpack 15-9 and again assisted on all but two baskets in the quarter to stretch their lead to 50-15 at the halftime break. Tinley Pierson had five of her 11 points in the second quarter to help keep the DSU offense going.
The second half saw Dickinson State get extended minutes for many of their reserves as Ella Peterson (7 points), Tayte Kohn (4 points), Whitney Edwards (4 points), Lauren Gangl (3 points), and Tobi Carlow (2 points) all did damage off the bench in the final 20 minutes. Danielle Wallace and Heather LaBree rounded out the scoring for the Blue Hawks with two points and five points, respectively.
The balanced game extended to the boards for DSU with Oase (8), Peterson (7), Sunshine Vicente (6), Edwards (5) and Gangl (5) all gathering at least five rebounds. Overall, the Blue Hawks assisted on 27 of their 34 made baskets and turned the ball over only 11 times.
Overall, head coach Eric Nelson was pleased with the effort he saw, "It was really nice to play at home and get every player extended minutes. We played really well as a team which showed with our 27 assists. It was a good team win that will givev us some confidence going into two really tough games against Rocky Mountain."

The Blue Hawks will take on (RV) Rocky Mountain College on back-to-back nights November 25-26. Both games will tip-off at 3:00 pm in Scott Gym.
