Seven Blue Hawks land postseason All-Conference baseball honors

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Dickinson State University (DSU) baseball team landed seven student-athletes on the North Star All-Conference teams, announced by the Conference office on Thursday night. Four Blue Hawks took home Second-Team honors, while two notched Honorable-Mention accolades. In addition, one Blue Hawk landed on the Gold-Glove team, and Angel Faras was the recipient of the Champions of Character award.

Second-Team All-Conference –

  • Derrick Calvillo – Junior – Catcher – Tucson, Arizona
    • Starting catcher earned his second straight North Star All-Conference honor as he landed on the First-Team a season ago. On the year, Calvillo holds a .354 batting average with a .437 on-base percentage and .554 slugging percentage. The junior has also knocked in 27 RBIs and collected 46 hits – including ten doubles, two triples, and four homeruns.
  • Dawson Cortese – Sophomore – Third Base – Laurel, Montana
    • Dawson Cortese has been an integral part of the Blue Hawks' offense as he holds a team-high .400 batting average through 38 games. Cortese leads the team in hits (50), RBIs (45), and is second on the team with 11 homeruns.
  • Jacob Scully – Sophomore – Starting Pitcher – Florence, Montana
    • Scully currently leads the team in innings pitched (54.2) and holds a team-best 4.94 ERA. The sophomore has five wins on the year and is second on the team in strikeouts with 64.
  • Brannan Hogan – Junior – Starting Pitcher – Waukon, Iowa
    • Hogan currently leads the team in strikeouts with 68 and is fourth on the team with a 5.19 ERA through 50.1 innings.

Honorable-Mention All-Conference –

  • Jacob Clinton – Sophomore – Outfield –
    • Clinton is fourth on the team in hits with 39 – including six doubles, one triple, and three homeruns. On the year, Clinton is averaging .307 from the plate, along with a .412 on-base percentage and .441 slugging percentage in 39 games played.
  • Jonathan Lerma – Sophomore – Starting Pitcher –
    • On the year, Lerma has posted a 5.40 ERA through 45 innings pitched – which puts his third on the team. Lerma has guided his team to three wins and is third on the team with 50 strikeouts.

Gold-Glove Team –

  • Cade Ostenson – Sophomore – Left Field – Newcastle, Wyoming
    • Ostenson holds a .979 fielding percentage through 39 games. He has added 46 putouts, while committing only one error on the year.
