BACK IN ACTION: Following a week where the Blue Hawks played just one game, they will head to Butte, Montana to take on Montana Tech and Providence (Mont.) at the Montana Tech Tip-Off Classic … until this week the games were scheduled for Friday-Saturday, but were moved forward a day to help spread out a busy weekend of events at Montana Tech … coming off a big overtime win over the University of Jamestown, the Blue Hawks will look to use that momentum in Montana … Kose Egbule and Gus Wright are tied for the team lead in points per game at 11.8 and Egbule leads in rebounds/game at 8
THE SERIES SINCE 2009...
vs MTU: MTU leads 13-5
Last: 70-56 MTU (11/03/23 in Dillon) / Streak: MTU 5
Notes: The teams have met twice a year the last two seasons with Montana Tech winning four close contests … all four games have been within 12 points, but the last Blue Hawk win came in 2020 when DSU won, 82-59, in Dickinson
vs UP: UP leads 9-8
Last: DSU 94-89 (12/29/22 in Billings) / Streak: DSU 1
Notes: The teams have traded wins over the last four games after meeting on a neutral floor twice last season … both games were high scoring affairs with both teams eclipsing the 80 point mark in both games
SCOUTING THE FOES: Montana Tech comes into the weekend holding a perfect 5-0 record and sits at #6 in the national polls for the second consecutive week … the Orediggers use smothering defense to hold teams to just 57 points per game while scoring 86 points on offense … Providence enters the weekend with a 3-2 record, but their two losses came to #1 College of Idaho and Warner Pacific … the only common opponent they have with DSU is Jamestown who they defeated 95-79 at home
