DICKINSON, N.D. – A large crowd was on hand in Scott Gym Wednesday night for the Blue Hawks home opener, but a powerful Valley City State team played spoiler as they swept DSU, 3-0.
After dropping the first set 25-11, Dickinson State came out strong in set two. The Blue Hawks held a 17-16 advantage, but a 9-0 VCSU run to end the set made it 2-0 Vikings in the match.
Dickinson State did not hold another lead as Valley City State ran away with the third set after a 7-0 run early made it 10-3 VCSU.
Brooklyn Wyllie and Makyah Albrecht each had five kills to lead Dickinson State, while Haydin Henschel added 10 digs to lead the defense.
