SEASON PREVIEW
Dickinson State enters the 2025–26 campaign focused on building chemistry and competing in a challenging Frontier Conference. Sixth-year head coach Derek Selvig leads a retooled Blue Hawk squad coming off a 19–11 season that included regular-season and tournament titles in the North Star Athletic Association.
Senior forward Cordell Stinson returns to anchor the lineup after earning All-Conference and All-Defensive honors a season ago. He is joined by returning senior guard Jake Daniel and sophomore forward Weston Zacher. The Blue Hawks also welcome a strong group of newcomers, including junior guards Quincy Linton (South Puget Sound CC) and Isaiah Vargas (Highline CC), and junior forward Nate Visentin (Spokane CC).

HEAD COACH – DEREK SELVIG:
Derek Selvig enters his sixth season as head men's basketball coach at Dickinson State, coming off a historic 2024–25 campaign that saw the Blue Hawks capture both the NSAA regular-season and tournament championships. Under his leadership, DSU earned its first NAIA National Tournament berth in 20 years and ranked among the league's top teams in both offensive efficiency and scoring defense.

Since arriving in Dickinson, Selvig has developed multiple All-Conference performers, including 2025 NAIA All-American Kose Egbule and three-time All-NSAA guard John Evans. His 2024–25 squad also featured four All-Conference selections and earned him NSAA Coach of the Year honors.

Prior to DSU, Selvig was an assistant coach at Montana Tech, helping the program to back-to-back winning seasons and its first win over an NCAA Division I opponent. A native of Glendive, Mont., Selvig starred at the University of Montana (2007–12), where he led the Grizzlies to two NCAA Tournament appearances and later played professionally in Germany.
