Dickinson, N.D. — Dickinson State earned its third win of the season over a nationally ranked opponent Saturday, defeating No. 24 Carroll College 3–1 (25–12, 21–25, 25–17, 25–18) in Frontier Conference volleyball action at Scott Gymnasium. All three of the Blue Hawks' victories over Top 25 teams this year have come on their home court in league play.
Junior outside hitter Aubrey Allison led Dickinson State with 15 kills, hitting .229 while adding 18 digs, an ace, and 17 total points. Cate Floy posted 13 kills and two block assists, while Makyah Albrecht added 11 kills and two aces. The Blue Hawks hit .205 as a team while holding the Fighting Saints to a .057 attack percentage.
Setter Rylee Kogolshak directed the offense with 43 assists and added 13 digs and three total blocks. Senior middle blocker Samantha Oase contributed eight kills on a .375 clip and led all players with seven blocks. Carmen Pallone added four kills and three blocks. Taylor Fischer anchored the defense with 17 digs, while Abigail Beddes tallied a team-high 19 digs from the back row.
Dickinson State controlled the first set from the start, hitting .265 and using an early 10-1 run to seize momentum. Allison and Floy combined for seven kills in the frame, and the Blue Hawks closed on a kill from Oase to take it 25–12.
Carroll responded in the second, taking advantage of DSU attack errors to even the match 25–21.
The Blue Hawks regrouped and regained control in the third, swinging at a .286 mark behind balanced production from Allison, Floy, and Albrecht. DSU used a 7-2 run midway through the set to pull away and close it 25–17.
In the fourth, Dickinson State posted its best offensive performance of the day with a .304 hitting percentage. Oase recorded multiple blocks during a 9-3 stretch that broke the set open, and Allison finished the match with a kill off the block to secure the 25–18 victory.
Dickinson State finished with 100 digs compared to 85 for Carroll and led 11–7 in total blocks. The Blue Hawks also served eight aces, led by Taylor Gaer with four.
For Carroll (12–7, 7–4 Frontier), McKaila Balcom had 11 kills on .300 hitting, and Elizabeth Heuiser added six kills and four blocks. Libero Sofia Kimmel collected 19 digs to pace the Saints' defense.
With the win, Dickinson State improves to 9–7 overall and 5–6 in Frontier play. The victory continues DSU's strong home form, where the Blue Hawks have defeated three nationally ranked teams this season inside Scott Gymnasium.
