Sioux Center, Iowa – Dickinson State closed the weekend with a decisive 9-1 victory over Briar Cliff before securing a walk-off 4-3 win against Mount Marty at the ASB Dome Classic.
In the first game, Dickinson State capitalized on Briar Cliff's defensive struggles to score six unearned runs in a pivotal fifth inning. Allyson Farrington and Celina Wilharm set the tone at the top of the lineup, each collecting multiple hits. Baylee Berg delivered a key two-run double, and Kara Conway followed with an RBI double of her own as the Blue Hawks built a commanding lead.
Alison Eldridge controlled the game from the circle, limiting Briar Cliff to three hits over six innings. She struck out four and did not allow an earned run. The Blue Hawks tacked on two more runs in the sixth, highlighted by a sacrifice fly from Jersi Morse and an RBI single from Bailey Hansen.
The Blue Hawks carried that momentum into their matchup with Mount Marty. However, they found themselves in an early deficit after allowing two runs in the first and another in the third. Dickinson State responded in the fourth when Morse singled home Berg to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Blue Hawks continued to chip away, with Hansen driving in Berg in the sixth to make it a one-run game. They tied the contest in the seventh when Brooke Lijewski delivered a clutch RBI single to score Farrington.
Eldridge, who had already secured a win earlier in the day, entered in relief and shut down Mount Marty in the final two innings. In the bottom of the ninth, Jai Maddox-Hernandez led off on second base before Morse moved her to third with a single. With two outs, Wilharm delivered the game-winning RBI single to left field, sealing the Blue Hawks' second win of the day.
Dickinson State improved to 5-3 on the season and will continue play next weekend back at in Jamestown.
