Hawks come up just short against Bellevue

Dickinson, N.D. – Dickinson State fell to Bellevue 65-56 on Wednesday night at Scott Gymnasium despite a strong third-quarter effort. The Blue Hawks outscored the Bruins 24-20 in the period but struggled to generate offense in the fourth, managing only eight points.

Katherine Fox led Dickinson State with 18 points, shooting 7-for-19 from the field, including two three-pointers. Samantha Oase added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Kayden Steele contributed 13 points. The Blue Hawks shot 30.4% from the field and 13.0% from three-point range.

Bellevue's Gabby Moore led all scorers with 23 points, including three three-pointers. Ashtyn Arnold added 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Josias Mickens recorded 11 points and 11 boards. The Bruins shot 31.8% from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc.

Dickinson State opened with a 10-8 lead after the first quarter before Bellevue responded with a 15-14 second-quarter edge, cutting the Blue Hawks' advantage to one at halftime. The third quarter saw Dickinson State build momentum, but Bellevue responded in the final period, closing the game with a 22-8 run.

Rebounding was even at 49 apiece, but Bellevue's 17-for-21 free-throw shooting proved to be a difference-maker. Dickinson State went 11-for-15 from the line.
