Dickinson, N.D. – Dickinson State swept Mayville State in a Sunday doubleheader at North Softball Complex, winning 10-1 in five innings in game one and shutting out the Comets 7-0 in game two.
In the opener, Dickinson State scored in every inning, building an early 6-1 lead through two frames before adding four more runs in the final three innings to secure the run-rule victory.
Celina Wilharm led the offensive attack with a 3-for-3 performance, driving in three runs and scoring three times. She recorded a pair of doubles and added a sacrifice fly. Brooke Lijewski went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs. Jersi Morse had two hits and drove in two runs, while HaiLeigh Davis was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Bailey Hansen added a sacrifice fly, and Kiley Hubby, Ayaka Tajima, and Allyson Farrington also scored runs.
The Blue Hawks totaled 10 hits and drew five walks while striking out just once. They scored three runs in the first, three in the second, and added one run in each of the third and fourth innings before closing the game with two runs in the fifth.
Alison Eldridge earned the win in the circle, throwing five complete innings. She allowed three hits and one earned run, struck out six, and walked one. Eldridge faced just one batter over the minimum after the first inning and threw 64 pitches in the effort.
Dickinson State returned in game two and picked up right where it left off, scoring three runs in the first and adding insurance in the third and fourth to cruise to a 7-0 shutout.
Farrington led off the game with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from Morse to open the scoring. Wilharm and Lijewski followed with a single and double, respectively, with both eventually scoring on RBI hits from Lijewski and Hansen.
Lijewski added a solo home run in the third to extend the lead to 4-0. Farrington homered in the fourth, and the Blue Hawks added two more runs in the inning with an RBI groundout by Lijewski and a double from Hubby to drive in Hansen.
Farrington finished game two 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, RBI, and two runs scored. Lijewski was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, a home run, and a double. Hansen went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Wilharm added two hits and two runs, while Hubby drove in a run on a double.
Hope Fath threw a complete-game shutout for Dickinson State, allowing just three hits while striking out 11. She walked three and threw 107 pitches across seven innings. Mayville State left only four runners on base and never advanced a runner past second.
The Blue Hawks recorded 12 hits and three walks in game two while striking out just once. The defense committed no errors across both games of the doubleheader.
