SEASON OPENER: Dickinson State begins its second season under head coach
Stormy Siemion with a non-conference matchup against Dakota Wesleyan in Valley City this Saturday. The Blue Hawks look to rebound from a 5-21 season in 2024, returning key contributors in setter
Rylee Kogolshak — a First Team All-NSAA and AVCA All-Region honoree — and defensive standout
Aubrey Allison, who led DSU in digs last year, and will be transitioning to pin hitter this season. This weekend's contest is the first of five matches in the opening eight days of the 2025 campaign.
THE SERIES...
vs. Dakota Wesleyan: DWU leads 7-2 overall (since 2009)
Last: DWU 3-2 (8/30/24 in North Sioux City, S.D.) / Streak: DWU 7
Notes: Eight of the nine all-time meetings have been decided in four sets or fewer. DSU's last win came in 2010 (3-0). The most recent contest saw the Blue Hawks push the Tigers to five sets, falling 15-13 in the deciding frame.
OPPONENT PREVIEW – DAKOTA WESLEYAN: The Tigers open 2025 after competing in the deep Great Plains Athletic Conference last season. DWU returns multiple starters from a team that finished in the middle of the GPAC standings and was picked to finish fifth this year in the GPAC preseason poll. The Tigers are Receiving Votes in the NAIA National Preseason Poll.
HEAD COACH – STORMY SIEMION: Stormy Siemion enters her second season as head volleyball coach at Dickinson State after being named to the position ahead of the 2024 campaign. In her first year, she guided two players to all-conference honors, including
Rylee Kogolshak (First Team All-NSAA, AVCA All-Region HM) and
McKenzie Moser (Second Team All-NSAA).
Before joining DSU, Siemion built a strong résumé in Montana high school volleyball, leading Skyview High School to two state tournament appearances and a fourth-place state finish in 2023. She also served as an assistant at Lockwood High School and Hardin High School.
A Huntley, Mont., native, Siemion won four consecutive Montana state titles at Huntley Project High School, setting state records for kills in a season and career. She played collegiately at NCAA Division II Montana State University–Billings (2013–18), earning team MVP honors and All-GNAC honorable mention in 2016. Her championship pedigree, player development expertise, and competitive drive continue to shape the direction of the Blue Hawk program.
