Dickinson State Wraps Up Siouxland Invitational 3-1

North Sioux City, S.D. — Dickinson State earned its third win of the Siouxland Invitational with a 3-1 victory over Governors State (Ill.) on Saturday morning.

Dickinson State couldn't close out multiple tight sets against Briar Cliff (Iowa), falling 3-1 in its final match of the Siouxland Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman pin Cate Floy led the Blue Hawks with a team-high 17 kills and added four digs. Allison recorded 14 kills and 10 digs, while senior pin Makyah Albrecht added 12 kills and a block assist. Kogolshak paced the offense with 50 assists and 13 digs, while also chipping in four kills, a service ace, and no reception errors.

Defensively, Egan led all players with 24 digs, and Fischer added 11. Beddes totaled nine digs and an assist, while sophomore Taylor Gaer and junior Geraldyne Fernandez each saw court time in the back row. Dickinson State out-dug Briar Cliff 75-68 but committed 31 attack errors and recorded just one team block, coming from Albrecht and Oase.

Pallone posted three service aces and five kills, while Oase added six kills and a block assist off the bench. Senior middle Samantha Oase and junior pin Carmen Pallone combined for 13.5 points in the match.

Dickinson State opened with a dominant 25-16 first-set win, hitting .324 and limiting the Chargers to just 11 kills. Briar Cliff answered by winning the next three sets, taking the second 25-19 and edging DSU 25-23 in the third and fourth sets.

Head coach Stormy Siemion reflected positively on the weekend performance:

"It was a great weekend! Getting to finish 3-1 on our only tournament this year is a huge accomplishment," Siemion said. "We played some great teams and it has helped us see the improvements we need to make."

With the loss, Dickinson State moved to 4-1 on the season.
