Dickinson, N.D. - Dickinson State junior
Caleb Sarsland has been named the Frontier Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week following his performance at the Marauders Invitational in Bismarck on Sept. 5.
Sarsland finished fifth overall in the men's 8,000-meter race with a time of 25 minutes, 26.24 seconds. He was the top NAIA finisher in the field, placing ahead of several NCAA Division I and II athletes while helping the Blue Hawks to a fifth-place team finish.
"Caleb represented the Blue Hawks in stellar fashion against top-tier competition," said DSU head coach Dr. Thomas Schwartz. "He battled in the front pack and came away with a fifth-place finish. His effort shows the kind of season we expect from him, and we're excited for fans to see Caleb and the rest of the team compete at our home meet later this month."
The Blue Hawks return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they host the Blue Hawk Invitational at the Badlands Ministry Campgrounds near Medora. The women's race will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the men's race at 10:15 a.m.
