Dickinson State falls to No. 4 Dakota State in Frontier matchup, 90-50

DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State dropped a Frontier Conference contest to No. 4 Dakota State on Wednesday evening, falling 90-50 at Scott Gymnasium.

The Blue Hawks (4-11, 2-9 Frontier) led 20-18 after the first quarter but were outscored 72-30 the rest of the way as the Trojans (14-3, 9-2) used a dominant second half to pull away.

Kaylin Garza led Dickinson State with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. Anhelica Shanrock added eight points, while J'ell Garfield chipped in seven. Kyrie Alldredge contributed nine points off the bench, hitting two of her three attempts from beyond the arc.

After shooting 50 percent from the field in the opening quarter, Dickinson State went cold late, shooting just 2-of-15 in the fourth. The Blue Hawks were limited to four points in the final frame while Dakota State used a 19-point quarter to close the game.

The Trojans shot 46.7 percent from the floor and hit 12 three-pointers, including five in a pivotal third quarter where they outscored DSU 34-12. Tabor Teel led all scorers with 19 points and 12 rebounds for Dakota State, while Angelina Chapple added 16 points and nine boards off the bench.

Despite the strong start, DSU struggled with turnovers and allowed 21 points off giveaways. The Blue Hawks also managed just two second-chance points on the night, compared to 26 for Dakota State.

Dakota State held a 46-31 edge on the glass and received 46 points from its bench unit.
