DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State senior Kori Nagel has been named the NAIA National Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday.
Nagel earns the honor following her dominant performance at the NCAA Division II University of Mary Marauders Indoor Opener, where she broke the school record in the weight throw and posted two NAIA automatic qualifying marks.
She becomes the second Blue Hawk this season to earn NAIA National Field Athlete of the Week honors, joining teammate Faith Brennan, who received the distinction earlier in the indoor campaign.
This marks Nagel's second national recognition of the season, having also been named National Women's Field Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) earlier this year.
A senior from Center, N.D., Nagel continues to lead the NAIA in the weight throw after a 19.08-meter (62 feet, 7.25 inches) effort in Bismarck. She also claimed the shot put title with a mark of 14.90 meters (48 feet, 10.75 inches), securing another NAIA 'A' qualifying standard.
"We're really proud of the work she's put in the last offseason and early this season," said DSU Head Coach Shayne Wittkopp. "Coach Gust really has her clicking on all cylinders right now. She really has surpassed our expectations as a coaching staff. She's a fantastic athlete and teammate — we're very proud of her."
Nagel and the Blue Hawks are back in action this weekend as they continue to build momentum toward the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
