FARGO, N.D. — The Dickinson State men's and women's track and field teams continued their strong start to the 2026 indoor season with several key performances and national qualifying marks at the UND Open.
The Blue Hawks produced multiple top finishes, improved national marks and a school record, further strengthening their position as the season moves toward Frontier Conference competition and the NAIA Indoor Championships.
School Record Highlights Distance Effort
Junior Caleb Sarsland delivered the highlight performance of the weekend for Dickinson State, setting a new school record in the men's 3,000 meters. Sarsland posted a time of 8:21.93 to earn an NAIA "B" provisional qualifying standard. He also holds a provisional mark in the mile, clocking 4:11.79 earlier this season at the U-Mary Winter Classic.
Field Events Continue to Produce National Qualifiers
The Blue Hawks continued to build national depth in the field events, where several athletes already hold NAIA qualifying standards.
Senior Dylan Dahlgren remains one of the NAIA's top performers in the men's weight throw after previously setting a school record with an automatic qualifying mark of 19.24 meters. Dahlgren also contributed in the shot put at the UND Open as Dickinson State's throws group continued to post consistent results.
On the women's side, senior Kori Nagel continues to anchor the throws. Nagel holds automatic qualifying marks in both the shot put at 15.25 meters and the weight throw at 19.18 meters, the latter set at the U-Mary Winter Classic. She remains among the national leaders in both events.
Senior Rebecca Eacker added to the Blue Hawks' list of national qualifiers with a provisional "B" standard in the women's weight throw at 16.88 meters earlier this season, while sophomore Codi Nagle earned an NAIA "B" qualifying mark in the shot put with a throw of 13.71 meters at the UND Open.
In the jumps, senior Adarra Hagelund continues to lead the NAIA in the high jump after clearing an automatic qualifying height of 1.76 meters earlier this season. Sophomore Ty Leischner has added a provisional qualifying mark in the men's high jump at 2.04 meters.
Junior Faith Sullivan-Brennan remains a national leader in the horizontal jumps. Brennan holds an automatic qualifying mark in the triple jump at 12.28 meters and a provisional qualifying mark in the long jump at 5.69 meters.
Track Events Add Depth Across Roster
Dickinson State also recorded solid performances on the track throughout the weekend. The Blue Hawks posted competitive efforts in the middle distance events, with multiple athletes advancing through rounds and contributing to the team's overall performance.
The meet provided valuable experience across event groups as Dickinson State continues to build consistency and depth ahead of the championship portion of the indoor season.
Looking Ahead
With multiple athletes holding NAIA "A" and "B" qualifying standards and a school record added to the program's early season résumé, Dickinson State exits the UND Open positioned well as the indoor season continues.
The Blue Hawks will next compete at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D., as preparations continue for Frontier Conference and national championship competition.
