Blue Hawks Post Strong Marks at SDSU Indoor Classic

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Dickinson State men's and women's indoor track and field teams turned in a series of strong performances at the SDSU Indoor Classic, highlighted by event victories, national list improvements and multiple personal records.

The Blue Hawks were led by senior Kori Nagel in the women's throws. Nagel won both the shot put and the weight throw. She captured the shot put with a mark of 15.33 meters and followed with a winning throw of 18.31 meters in the weight throw. Nagel continues to hold automatic national qualifying marks in both events.

Alician Parks added a fourth-place finish in the shot put at 13.28 meters and placed 12th in the weight throw at 15.40 meters. Klaire Gunderson recorded a personal best of 15.57 meters in the weight throw, a mark that moved her to No. 35 on the NAIA performance list.

On the men's side, Dylan Dahlgren posted two top-four finishes. He placed third in the weight throw at 18.12 meters and fourth in the shot put at 16.06 meters. Ty Bennick finished eighth in the shot put at 15.46 meters and 11th in the weight throw at 16.28 meters, while Maxx Lee competed in both throwing events.

In the jumps, Kohbe Smith placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.14 meters. Faith Brennan recorded a fifth-place finish in the women's triple jump at 11.77 meters and placed 16th in the long jump at 5.21 meters.

The pole vault group produced key results for Dickinson State. Adrien Calderon cleared 4.70 meters to place sixth, a mark that ranks No. 12 in the NAIA this season. Ty Leischner and Holden Will also posted competitive clearances in the event. On the women's side, Taylynd Stuhr cleared 3.15 meters, a season-best that ranks No. 59 nationally.

On the track, the Blue Hawks saw continued progress in the middle-distance events. Mia Handran placed second in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:20.92. Lauren Taylor added a time of 2:30.10 in the same event. Natalie Lile recorded a personal best of 3:03.20 in the 1,000 meters, while Loli Jarrett finished in 3:06.36, a mark that moved her to No. 66 on the NAIA list.

The women's 4x800-meter relay team of Handran, Lile, Taylor and Jarrett won the event in 9:32.96. The time ranks No. 14 in the NAIA this season.

On the men's side, Kyler Holinde recorded personal bests in both the 600 meters and 800 meters, finishing the 600 in 1:24.15 and the 800 in 1:58.06. Jacob Littleton added a personal best of 16:48.50 in the 5,000 meters.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Kohbe Smith, Hudson Atkinson, Jarett Schuchard and Logan Borden posted a season-best time of 3:18.75, a mark that currently ranks No. 29 in the NAIA.
