DICKINSON, N.D. — The Dickinson State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams turned in a strong overall performance this weekend at the Frontier Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted in Dickinson, with the Blue Hawks collecting multiple event titles, personal bests and all-conference finishes across the meet.
On the men's side, senior Mustafa Taylor led the sprint group with a runner-up finish in the 100 meters, posting a personal-best 10.15 in the finals after recording the top preliminary time of 10.25. Taylor also added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters in 21.65. Quentin Lewis scored in both sprint events, taking seventh in the 200 meters (21.97), a season best and fifth in the 400 meters (50.27), while freshman Logan Borden placed ninth in the 200 and seventh in the 400.
Freshman Kyler Holinde contributed in the middle-distance events with a fourth-place finish and personal-best time of 4:04.90 in the 1,500 meters, while also posting a personal best in the 800 meters.
In the hurdles, sophomore Cole Kukuchka placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best 15.23. Sophomore Maximus Kadrmas led the 400-meter hurdle group with a fourth-place finish in 55.53, followed by Mathew Hansen in fifth.
The Blue Hawks also scored in both relays, taking third in the 4x100 relay in 41.89 and fifth in the 4x400 relay in 3:25.24.
In the jumps, sophomore Kohbe Smith earned the conference championship in the triple jump with a mark of 14.56 meters and added a runner-up finish in the long jump at 6.98 meters. Sophomore Ty Leischner placed third in the pole vault, clearing 4.80 meters, while freshman Jarek Janz added key points in multiple field events and finished sixth overall in the decathlon with 5,637 points.
Dickinson State's throws group continued to produce points throughout the meet. Senior Dylan Dahlgren claimed the conference title in the hammer throw with a mark of 58.83 meters, while also finishing second in discus (49.22m) and fourth in shot put (15.66m). Sophomore Maxx Lee added personal-best performances in both shot put and hammer.
The Dickinson State women also posted several top performances. Senior Chloe Gunderson led the throwers with conference titles in both shot put (14.60m) and discus (45.51m). Gunderson also received women's field performer of the year for the Frontier Conference. Senior Kori Nagel finished runner-up in both events while sophomore Codi Nagle added another event title for the Blue Hawks, winning the javelin with a throw of 43.31 meters and posting a personal best in shot put.
Senior Adarra Hagelund captured the conference title in the high jump with a season-best clearance of 1.77 meters and later placed fifth in the heptathlon with 4,502 points.
Freshman Mady Willis turned in a strong championship debut, finishing third in the 400-meter hurdles, seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best 15.06, and fifth in the pole vault. In distance events, Mia Handran placed fourth in the 800 meters, while Natalie Lile and Loli Jarrett each recorded personal-best times in the 1,500 meters.
Dickinson State also scored in all three women's relays, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 4x800 relay.
The Blue Hawks will next prepare for last-chance qualifying opportunities as they look toward the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this month.
