DSU comes up short in pair of games in Tucson

TUSCON- Dickinson State opened the day with a tight 3–2 loss to Indiana Tech. The Blue Hawks struck first in the bottom of the first when Celina Wilharm singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI double from Brooke Lijewski. Indiana Tech answered with a three-run third inning, capitalizing on a hit-by-pitch, a walk, and a two-run single.

DSU cut the deficit to one in the sixth. Stocktyn Stevenson tripled to right-center and scored on Allyson Farrington's sacrifice fly, but the Blue Hawks were held scoreless the rest of the way.

Ava Jahner took the loss after allowing three runs in 2.2 innings. Reagan King was effective in relief, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

Stevenson, Wilharm, Lijewski, and Octavia Meyer each recorded one hit for DSU.

In the second game, Dickinson State fell 9–5 to Midland after the Warriors opened with a five-run first inning. DSU responded with single runs in the second and two more in the fourth, taking advantage of Midland miscues. Stocktyn Stevenson delivered an RBI single in the second, and Ayaka Tajima added an RBI double in the fourth.

The Blue Hawks continued to chip away in the fifth. Octavia Meyer doubled, and Kiley Hubby followed with an RBI double to center. Stevenson later added another RBI single, bringing DSU within 8–5 before Midland added an insurance run in the sixth.

Stevenson finished with three hits and two RBI, while Tajima, Hubby, and Meyer each recorded extra-base hits. DSU totaled seven hits in the game.

Midland's early surge proved too much to overcome, as the Warriors produced six hits in the opening frame and finished with 12 overall.
