Box Score 2 DICKINSON, N.D. — Dickinson State used consistent offensive production and timely hitting to sweep a doubleheader from Bismarck State on Monday at home, winning 9-5 in game one and 9-4 in game two.
In the opener, Dickinson State (17-12) collected 16 hits and used a four-run sixth inning to pull away for the win.
Bismarck State opened the scoring with a run in the first inning and added another in the second to take an early 2-0 lead. The Blue Hawks answered in the third when Brooke Lijewski drove in Celina Wilharm with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Dickinson State took the lead in the fourth inning. Wilharm delivered a two-run double to tie the game, and Lijewski followed with a solo home run to give the Blue Hawks a 4-3 advantage.
After Bismarck State tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth, Dickinson State responded with its largest inning of the game. Lijewski started the rally with a two-run double, and Octavia Meyer and Jaydin Sabol followed with RBI doubles to extend the lead to 9-4.
Hope Fath earned the win in relief, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing three runs. Lijewski led the offense with four hits and four RBIs, while Wilharm added three hits and two RBIs. Meyer and Ashlee Potter each recorded three hits.
In game two, Dickinson State (18-12) used a pair of multi-run innings to secure the sweep with a 9-4 victory.
Bismarck State scored in the first inning on an RBI groundout and added another run in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2. Dickinson State responded in the third inning when Celina Wilharm brought in Ashlee Potter with a sacrifice fly, followed by a sacrifice bunt from Lijewski to give the Blue Hawks a 2-1 lead.
The Blue Hawks broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring four runs. Lijewski delivered an RBI single, and Kiley Hubby reached on an error that brought in a run. Octavia Meyer followed with an RBI single, and Baylee Berg added an RBI hit to cap the inning and extend the lead to 6-2.
Bismarck State cut into the lead with a two-run home run in the sixth, but Dickinson State answered in the bottom half. Wilharm drove in a run on a fielder's choice, and Hubby added a two-run single to push the lead to 9-4.
Ava Jahner earned the complete-game victory, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out five.
Stevenson led Dickinson State with two hits and two runs scored, while Hubby drove in three runs. Lijewski added two hits and two RBIs in the win.
Dickinson State finished with 10 hits in game two and did not commit an error in either contest.
The Blue Hawks will continue conference play as they look to build on the momentum from the doubleheader sweep.
