BELLEVUE, Neb. — Dickinson State was limited to five runs across three games as No. 3 Bellevue completed a Frontier Conference baseball tripleheader sweep Monday, winning 2-1 in eight innings, 8-3 and 3-1.
The Blue Hawks moved to 16-18 overall. Bellevue improved to 31-3.
Dickinson State totaled 22 hits on the day but struggled to capitalize in key situations, leaving multiple scoring opportunities across all three games.
Game 1
Dickinson State dropped the opener 2-1 in eight innings despite out-hitting Bellevue 9-6.
The Blue Hawks answered in the second inning when Logan Braaten walked, stole second and scored on Ramon Teran's RBI single. Bellevue had taken a 1-0 lead earlier in the inning on a sacrifice bunt.
Dickinson State created multiple chances to take the lead. The Blue Hawks had runners on the corners in the third inning but were unable to score. In the seventh, Dickinson State loaded the bases with one out before Bellevue turned a double play to end the threat.
Bellevue broke the tie in the eighth inning with a leadoff double, a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly.
Dickinson State managed only a two-out single by Kadin Finders in the bottom half.
Teran, Jace Buchanan and Finders each recorded two hits. Mason Lunzman pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts.
Game 2
Bellevue used a five-run sixth inning to pull away for an 8-3 win in the second game.
Dickinson State tied the game in the second inning when Jaden Salazar hit a solo home run. The game remained tied through five innings.
Bellevue broke the game open in the sixth, using three hits, two hit batters and a wild pitch to score five runs and take a 6-1 lead. The Bruins added two runs in the seventh.
Dickinson State scored twice in the bottom of the seventh. Teran and Buchanan opened the inning with singles. After a groundout moved both runners into scoring position, Luis Rodriguez drove in a run with a single and Moses Dokes followed with an RBI double.
Buchanan and Ty Farwell each had two hits. Rodriguez and Dokes each drove in a run. Tate Williams took the loss after allowing six runs in 5 1/3 innings.
Game 3
Dickinson State fell 3-1 in the finale.
The Blue Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Buchanan singled and later scored on Rodriguez's RBI single.
Bellevue answered in the third inning with a triple and a sacrifice fly to take a 2-1 lead. The Bruins added an unearned run in the fourth.
Dickinson State was limited to four hits. Buchanan had two hits and scored the team's only run. Teran and Rodriguez added one hit each.
Patrick Dietz allowed three runs, two earned, over five innings. Cooper VanLuchene and Trent Chavez each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
Buchanan finished 6-for-10 on the day to lead Dickinson State, while Teran added five hits.
