Nampa, Idaho — Dickinson State closed the College of Idaho Tournament on Saturday with a four-set loss to #18 College of Idaho, falling 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 25-11.
College of Idaho controlled the opening set after building an 11-4 lead. The Blue Hawks struggled to find an offensive rhythm, finishing with eight kills and 12 attack errors as the Yotes took the set 25-15.
Dickinson State answered in the second. After falling behind 4-0, the Blue Hawks worked their way back and tied the set at 13 on an Aubrey Allison kill. Neither team led by more than a point over the next several rallies before Dickinson State moved in front 20-19.
With the score tied at 21, a Carmen Pallone kill put the Blue Hawks back in front. Dickinson State followed with a block from Pallone and Allison before an Ashtynn Egan service ace extended the lead to 23-21. Allison later finished the set with a kill to give Dickinson State a 25-22 win and even the match.
The Blue Hawks carried that momentum into the third and used a six-point run to build a 9-4 lead. Dickinson State remained in front 15-10 before College of Idaho began cutting into the margin.
The Yotes tied the set at 17 and again at 19 before scoring four straight to take a 23-19 lead. Dickinson State stopped the run briefly, but College of Idaho took the final two points for a 25-20 win.
College of Idaho pulled away early in the fourth, turning a 2-2 tie into a 13-6 advantage. The Yotes later used an eight-point run to stretch the lead to 24-9 before closing the match 25-11.
Allison led Dickinson State with 13 kills and added nine digs and two block assists. Cate Floy finished with eight kills on 19 attacks, hitting .263, while Egan added six kills and two service aces.
Rylee Kogolshak recorded 30 assists, six digs, three kills and two block assists. Geraldyne Fernandez and Paige Rose shared the team lead with 15 digs apiece. Pallone finished with four block assists, while Hanna Hill added two service aces.
Dickinson State finished with 36 kills, 50 digs, six service aces and five team blocks. College of Idaho recorded 53 kills and 16 blocks.
The Blue Hawks moved to 1-6 on the season.
