DICKINSON, N.D. — Dickinson State senior Caleb Sarsland was named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Sarsland, a Bowman, N.D., native, earned the honor after placing second at the Marauders Invitational Friday at McDowell Dam in Bismarck, N.D. He completed the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 3.71 seconds, finishing second among 63 runners.

Sarsland trailed only NCAA Division II University of Mary runner Gideon Hammah, who won the race in 24:51.23.

The runner-up finish continued a strong start to the season for Sarsland, who has placed inside the top 10 in each of Dickinson State's first two meets. He opened the season with a seventh-place finish at the Augustana Twilight Invitational, completing the 5K in 14:49.0 as the top non-NCAA Division I finisher.

Tuesday's award marked the fifth Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference weekly honor of Sarsland's career and his second in as many weeks this season.

Dickinson State returns to competition Oct. 2 at the Jimmie Invitational in Jamestown, N.D.
