BELLEVUE, Neb. — Dickinson State opened Saturday's Frontier Conference match with a 25-16 first-set win before Bellevue answered by taking the next three sets for a 3-1 victory at BU Fieldhouse.

The Blue Hawks fell to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Bruins improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the Frontier.

Dickinson State controlled the opening set from the start. Paige Rose began the match with a service ace and remained at the line as the Blue Hawks scored the first six points. Dickinson State maintained the advantage from there, with an Ashtynn Egan kill making it 14-7 before the lead grew to 18-10.

A Cate Floy kill gave the Blue Hawks set point at 24-15, and a Bellevue attack error closed the 25-16 win. Dickinson State recorded 16 kills with just two attack errors on 40 attempts to hit .350 in the set.

Rose again helped the Blue Hawks start quickly in the second, delivering consecutive aces as Dickinson State took a 3-0 lead. Bellevue worked back into the set, but a Carmen Pallone service ace tied the score at 8. The Bruins eventually moved in front before Dickinson State stayed within reach through the middle of the set.

Bellevue built its advantage to 17-12 and later 22-16 before taking the set 25-18 to even the match.

The Bruins carried that momentum into the third, opening an 8-2 advantage. Dickinson State cut the deficit to four at 8-4, but Bellevue rebuilt its lead and went ahead 16-8. The Blue Hawks finished with 12 kills in the set, but eight attack errors limited them to a .082 hitting percentage as Bellevue won 25-16.

Bellevue scored the first four points of the fourth before Dickinson State pulled within 4-3 on Rose's fourth service ace of the match. The Bruins answered by extending the lead to 11-4 and later 17-6. Bellevue closed the match with a 25-9 win while hitting .316 in the final set.

Macie Wheeler, Pallone and Aubrey Allison shared the Dickinson State lead with nine kills apiece. Wheeler had the most efficient performance of the group, committing two errors on 21 attempts to hit .333 while adding three block assists. Allison finished with 15 digs, while Pallone added a service ace and a block assist.

Floy recorded seven kills and hit .200, while Egan finished with six kills, 12 digs and a service ace. Rylee Kogolshak directed the offense with 38 assists and added nine digs, three kills and a service ace.

Rose led the Blue Hawks defensively with 18 digs and finished with four of the team's seven service aces.

Dickinson State finished with 43 kills and hit .117 for the match after its .350 opening set. Bellevue recorded 50 kills and hit .259 while holding advantages of 81-66 in digs and 9-4 in total blocks.
