BACK TO BUSINESS: After a four game (one exhibition included) non-conference detour, the Blue Hawks will return to North Star Athletic Association play when they hit the road to take on Bellevue University and Dakota State University …  despite coming away with just one win in their last four games, Dickinson State has seemed to start to hit their stride heading into the meat of conference play … sophomore forward Gus Wright has missed the last two games with an injury, but is expected to return in time for conference play … the Blue Hawks continue to feature a well rounded offense, getting at least eight points per game from all five starters and getting valuable double digit scoring contributions from Josiah Haaland the last three games as he took a majority of the minutes vacated by Wright … four sophomores in the starting lineup points to an opportunity for growth, and DSU hopes that it all comes together over the final months of the season

THE SERIES SINCE 2009...
vs BU: BU leads 7-3, 5-0 in Bellevue
Last: BU 79-48 (2/12/22 in Bellevue) / Streak: BU 1
Notes: Each team won on their home floor last year, with Dickinson State coming out victorious, 70-62, in January before Bellevue got revenge to close the season with a 79-48 win … the teams also split the season series in 2020-2021 with both teams again winning on their home floor … the Blue Hawks have never won in Bellevue

vs DaSU: DaSU leads 12-10, 8-3 in Madison
Last: DaSU 68-66 (2/11/22 in Madison) / Streak: DaSU 1
Notes: Each team won on their home floor last year, with Dickinson State coming out victorious, 80-69, in January before Dakota State won a nailbiter, 68-66, in Madison … the teams also split the season series in 2020-2021 with both teams again winning on their home floor … the Blue Hawks last win in Madison came February 14, 2020 when they won 95-62

SCOUTING THE FOES: Bellevue is 2-2 in their last four games, gathering wins over Haskell and Bacone, and falling to #23 Morningside and Northwestern … they have been up-and-down all year, never winning or losing more than two games in a row … they currently hold a 5-2 home record … the Bruins average 73 points per game and allow 67 … they shoot 47.6 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from three and are led by four double figure scorers … Dakota State used a 55-54 win over Haskell to break a three game losing streak on December 30 … they have not defeated another NAIA school since their 82-68 win over Montana Western in the Sam Milanovich Classic in Dickinson … the Trojans are just 2-4 at home this year … they feature three double digit scorers, led by senior guard Deshawn Kelly

QUOTES…

Head Coach Derek Selvig

"We have a pretty busy week of basketball ahead of us.  Jamestown is a top 10 team in the NAIA.  It's a great opportunity for us to compete at a high level. Bellevue and Dakota State is one of the toughest road trips in the North Star.  Our guys have been super focused coming back from break and we are excited to get into North Star conference play.
