SEEDS UP FOR GRABS: The Blue Hawks will meet in-state rival Valley City State with playoff seeding on the line on Thursday, February 16th in Scott Gym … both teams currently sit at 8-5 in the North Star Athletic Association, putting them in a tie for third place … due to VCSU's victory over the Blue Hawks to open the conference season, the Vikings currently hold the tie-breaker, but a victory for the Blue Hawks on Thursday will allow them to leap frog VCSU into third place in the NSAA … regardless of Thursday's outcome, the Blue Hawks will host an opening round playoff game on Tuesday, February 21 … the time of that game will be dependent on the results of the women's game between VCSU and DSU and the opponent will be revealed at the conclusion of all conference games on Thursday

THE SERIES SINCE 2009...
vs VCSU: VCSU leads 17-14, VCSU leads 8-7 in Dickinson
Last: VCSU 82-70 (12/3/22 in Valley City) / Streak: VCSU 7
Notes: Valley City State has won the last seven games between the teams … the Blue Hawks had won four straight before the current VCSU streak … the last three games between the teams have all come in Valley City, including the NSAA Opening round last season

QUOTES…

Head Coach Derek Selvig

"We haven't seen Valley City since early December, so this is an interesting game. It's nice we've already clinched a home playoff game so there really isn't any pressure on our guys.  We need to play loose and free and knock down some shots.  Valley is a really good team, and they play a very unique style compared to the rest of the conference.  I hope we can pack that stands this Thursday for what should be an intense game."
