Mayville, N.D. – Dickinson State dropped a pair of matches to start North Star Athletic Association play this week. The Blue Hawks fell by identical 3-0 scores to RV Valley City State and Mayville State on the road.
Match One – VCSU 3 DSU 0
Dickinson State got 15 kills from Scarlette Schwindt while McKenzie Moser had 9 kills and 13 digs, but it wasn't enough to overcome RV Valley City State to kick off NSAA play.
Rylee Kogolshak dished out 36 assists, but the Blue Hawks struggled to keep up with a VCSU attack that hit .309 for the match. VCSU out blocked DSU 7-4 and committed just one error in serve receive.
Match Two – MSU 3 DSU 0
DSU held a lead in all three sets, but late runs by the Comets each time proved to be the difference in the 3-0 sweep.
Schwindt (14 kills) and Moser (10 kills, 9 digs) again led the way for the Blue Hawks, but just a .095 attack percentage as a team prevented any real runs for DSU.
