HAWLEY, Minn. - Blue Hawk men's and women's golf teams returned to action this week at the Mayville State University Invitational, hosted at Hawley Golf Club. The Blue Hawks delivered strong performances across both squads, highlighted by a runner-up finish from the women's team and consistent play from the men's roster.
Women's Recap
The Blue Hawk women secured second place overall with a team total of 670 (+94), finishing just ten strokes behind Jamestown. DSU showcased improved play in the second round, shaving ten shots off their opening-day score with a 330.
Senior Ellia Soydara (Fergus Falls, Minn.) led the way for Dickinson State, claiming second place individually at +11 (78–75). Junior Brooklyn Materi (Upton, Wyo.) followed closely, earning a tie for fourth at +22 (84–82). Freshman Camille Poncin (Livingston, Mont.) posted a steady +28 (88–83) to place in a tie for seventh. Rounding out the team scoring were Emma Isaacs (Biddle, Mont.), who finished tied for 15th at +37 (87–91), and Kiaralynn Weidinger (Billings, Mont.), tied for 18th at +40 (94–88). Competing individually, Jori Haugen (Billings, Mont.) also tied for 18th at +40 (86–94).
Men's Recap
On the men's side, the Blue Hawks finished in a tie for fifth with a team total of 630, matching host Mayville State. Concordia (MN) claimed the men's team title with an impressive 589.
Sophomore Torrin Ellis (Polson, Mont.) once again paced DSU, carding rounds of 80–74 to finish T-8th at +12. Jayce Johnson (Mandan, N.D.) followed in T-16th at +15 (79–78), while Sam Lewton (Dickinson, N.D.) placed T-20th at +17 (77–80). Eric DeBoer (Fargo, N.D.) shot +20 (82–78) to tie for 23rd, and Tyus Thomas (Glen Ullin, N.D.) rounded out the scoring at +22 (80–83) for a tie at 27th.
The DSU "B" squad posted a team total of 667, led by Emersyn Lee (Dickinson, N.D.), who tied for 27th at +22 (86–79). Tyler Gjellstad (Stanley, N.D.) followed at +23 (83–82), while Kaden Bishop (Malta, Mont.) was one behind with a +24 (80,-86) and Jermaine Broussard (Worland, Wyo.) carded a +30. Braxton Wolfe (Dickinson, N.D.) rounded out the group at +41 (91–90).
