Blue Hawks drop a pair of games at Dordt Dome Classic

Sioux Center, Iowa – Dickinson State dropped a pair of games in Sioux Center, Iowa, falling 3-2 to Dordt and 4-0 to Dakota Wesleyan.

In the opener against Dordt, the Blue Hawks (3-2) took an early lead but were unable to hold off a late push. Bailey Hansen put Dickinson State on the board in the second inning with an RBI single, scoring Karissa Comer. In the fourth, Brooke Lijewski doubled home Kara Conway to extend the lead to 2-0.

Dordt responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to cut the deficit to one. The Defenders took the lead in the fifth when a two-run double plated a pair of runs. The Blue Hawks were held scoreless over the final three innings, managing just one baserunner in that span.

Alison Eldridge (1-2) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits over five innings, striking out three and walking three. Reannan Butler pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief. Offensively, Dickinson State recorded four hits, with Comer, Lijewski, Hansen, and Celina Wilharm each contributing one.

In the second game of the day, the Blue Hawks struggled to generate offense, falling 4-0 to Dakota Wesleyan. Dickinson State managed just three hits, with Allyson Farrington, Conway, and Jai Maddox-Hernandez each recording one.

Dakota Wesleyan (7-3) capitalized on Blue Hawk errors and timely hitting. A fielder's choice in the first inning brought in the opening run. The Tigers added single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, including an RBI double and a stolen base that resulted in a run.

Butler (0-1) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits in four innings, striking out four. Ava Jahner pitched three scoreless innings in relief, surrendering two hits and striking out two.
