DICKINSON, N.D. — Dickinson State University Athletics is proud to announce that the 2005 and 2010 Blue Hawk football teams will be inducted into the DSU Athletic Hall of Fame this fall as part of the 100 Years of Football celebration.
The 2005 Blue Hawks etched their place in program history by capturing a fourth consecutive Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) championship — the first time in school history a football team had accomplished that feat. After a challenging midseason stretch, the Blue Hawks rallied to win five straight games to close out the year, securing the conference title with a 7-4 overall record. The defense posted four shutout victories on the season, showcasing one of the most dominant defensive units of the era. Dickinson State earned a berth in the NAIA playoffs before falling to eventual national champion Carroll College, 23-13.
The 2010 team added another chapter to Blue Hawk football history, winning the program's third consecutive DAC title following championships in 2008 and 2009. The Blue Hawks opened the season strong with non-conference victories over Rocky Mountain College and Concordia. Despite a regular-season setback against rival Black Hills State, Dickinson State bounced back to dominate the Yellow Jackets in a 21-0 shutout at the Fargodome to clinch the conference crown. In that championship game, Black Hills State did not cross the Blue Hawks' 40-yard line. The 2010 squad finished the year with a 10-2 overall record, advancing to the NAIA playoffs before falling to Morningside College.
Both teams exemplified the championship tradition of Dickinson State football and will be formally honored during Homecoming weekend this fall (October 5-11, 2025).
More details regarding the Hall of Fame ceremony and the 100 Years of Football celebration will be announced in the coming weeks.
