Mayville, N.D. - Dickinson State dropped a five-set Frontier Conference match to Mayville State on Thursday night, 3-2 (28-26, 25-19, 18-25, 17-25, 15-9), at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
After dropping the first two sets, the Blue Hawks rallied to win the third and fourth, forcing a decisive fifth. Mayville State (4-9, 2-6 Frontier) regained momentum late in the final frame to secure the win.
Aubrey Allison led Dickinson State (7-6, 3-5 Frontier) with 19 kills and 22 digs, while Carmen Pallone added 12 kills and five total blocks. Rylee Kogolshak posted 50 assists and 14 digs, and Ashtynn Egan tallied a team-high 36 digs. The Blue Hawks recorded 104 digs as a team and totaled 10.0 blocks on the night.
Dickinson State hit .109 overall, hampered by a .028 percentage in the second set and -.037 in the fifth. Mayville State held a slight edge in attack percentage at .115, despite a .000 mark in the fourth set. Both teams finished with over 100 digs and combined for 23.0 total team blocks.
The Blue Hawks opened the fifth set with a 5-2 lead but were outscored 13-4 the rest of the way. Allison had five kills in the final frame, but Mayville State capitalized on attack errors and late runs to close out the match.
