BILLINGS, M.T.— The Dickinson State men's and women's track and field teams recorded multiple event titles, scoring performances and personal-best marks at the Dave Coppock Yellowjacket Open.
The Blue Hawks were led by strong performances in the throws and jumps, while also adding key results on the track.
Dylan Dahlgren paced the men's throws group with a pair of victories. He won the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 57.02 meters and added a first-place finish in the shot put at 15.97 meters. Dahlgren also placed third in the discus at 46.06 meters. Ty Bennick contributed with a third-place finish in the shot put and fifth in the hammer throw, while Maxx Lee added a fifth-place finish in the shot put.
In the javelin, freshman Kaden Juhnke delivered a top performance, winning the event with a personal-best throw of 58.82 meters. Porter Kreider added a sixth-place finish, and Drew Lewis recorded a personal best.
The Blue Hawks also saw success in the horizontal jumps. Kohbe Smith claimed the long jump title with a mark of 7.22 meters, while Ethan Schiller placed sixth. Schiller added a third-place finish in the triple jump at 13.41 meters.
In the pole vault, Ty Leischner cleared a personal-best 4.80 meters to place second, while Holden Will added a fourth-place finish.
On the track, Logan Borden recorded personal-best times in both the 200 meters (22.42) and 400 meters (50.83), leading Dickinson State in both events. In the 100 meters, Mathew Hansen and Cole Kukuchka competed for the Blue Hawks.
The men's distance group was led by Caleb Sarsland, who placed fourth in the 800 meters in 1:55.43. Kyler Holinde added a seventh-place finish, and Drew Abrahamson recorded a personal best. In the 1500 meters, Hudson Atkinson led the group, while Jacob Littleton and Brady Hoverson each posted personal-best times.
In the hurdles, Hansen posted a personal-best 58.84 to place fifth in the 400-meter hurdles, with Kukuchka and Cole Skabo also competing.
For the women, Chloe Gunderson continued her strong season with victories in both the shot put and discus. Gunderson posted a personal-best 14.74 meters to win the shot put and followed with a discus mark of 47.98 meters to claim another title. Codi Nagle placed third in the shot put and added a runner-up finish in the javelin with a season-best throw of 42.65 meters.
In the hammer throw, Alician Parks led the Blue Hawks with a fourth-place personal-best mark of 47.06 meters. Klaire Gunderson added a sixth-place finish.
Adarra Hagelund secured a victory in the high jump with a clearance of 1.75 meters and added points in the triple jump.
In the horizontal jumps, Abby Talkington placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.27 meters, while Karson Tempel finished fourth. The trio of Elsie Wilson, Talkington and Tempel each recorded personal-best marks in the long jump.
On the track, Mady Willis posted a personal-best 13.16 in the 100 meters and added a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Mia Handran led the middle-distance group with a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters. Natalie Lile, Lauren Taylor and Loli Jarrett each posted strong performances in the 1500 meters, with Lile recording a personal best.
Dickinson State added relay points with a third-place finish in the women's 4x400-meter relay and a fifth-place finish on the men's side.
Overall, the Blue Hawks recorded multiple event titles and personal-best performances as they continue the outdoor season.
