DSU Cheer Team Ready for Postseason Competition

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Dickinson State University cheer team begins its postseason run Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, at the American Midwest Conference Championships in Columbia, Missouri. The Blue Hawks are scheduled to compete at 10:10 a.m. (MT).

The Blue Hawks enter the competition posting their two highest scores of the season at the Saint Ambrose Fighting Bee Classic and will look to build on that momentum at the American Midwest Conference Championships.  DSU finished in second place last season in their first year in the AMC.

Last Time Out

The Blue Hawks secured first and second-place finishes at the Saint Ambrose Fighting Bee Classic, scoring 96.00 for the opening round and 95.01 for the second round. The two-round total of 191.01 marked the highest combined score among the teams competing in the Saint Ambrose Fighting Bee Classic.

Andy Williams was named the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Competitive Cheer Stunter of the Week, in which he recorded a score of 19.6 points in the stunting difficulty and a score of 18.8 in execution, while committing zero deductions. His performance helped the Blue Hawks post one of their top scores of the season.

Heading into postseason competition, DSU trails only AMC rival Saint Ambrose in average scoring (93.45-93.14) and in the NAIA ARC 1 rankings.

Looking Ahead

The Blue Hawks aim for a strong performance at the American Midwest Conference Championships with sights set on getting to the NAIA National Championships, scheduled for Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, in Topeka, Kansas.
