DICKINSON, N.D. - The Dickinson State University cheer team will compete at the NAIA Competitive Cheer Championship this weekend, March 27th and 28th. Preliminary rounds will kick off on Friday at 3 p.m. MT.
Last Time Out
Blue Hawks recorded a third-place finish at the American Midwest Conference Competitive Cheer Championships in Columbia, Missouri. They advanced after a strong preliminary round.
Dickinson State placed second after the preliminary rounds with a score of 91.35 before posting a 94.10 in the finals. The Blue Hawks finished with a combined score of 93.41 to secure a third-place overall finish.
Blue Hawk All Conference Awards and Champion of Character
Several Blue Hawks earned conference recognition for their performances throughout the season.
Three athletes were named First Team All-Conference: Bella Brown, Gustav Kitzan and Xeia Schneider. Two athletes were named Second Team All-Conference: Jack Jelinek and Tia Madrigga.
The Blue Hawks also earned recognition in the Group Stunt All-Conference selections. The stunt group of Kylee Morrison, Tia Madrigga, Dylan Hawkins, and Jack Jelinek were named Second Team-All Conference.
Off the mat, six student-athletes were named AMC All-Academic Team: Andy Williams, Kathryn Brence, Kitara Schark, Kylee Morrison, Tia Madrigga, and Xeia Schneider.
Bella Brown was also recognized as the Champion of Character award.
Looking Ahead
The Blue Hawks enter the NAIA Competitive Cheer Championships with a national bid, joining St. Ambrose and Oklahoma City on the national field. Dickinson State will aim to carry the late-season momentum into the two-day championship competition as it competes against the top programs in the country.
