Dickinson State finishes strong at NAIA Cheer Championships

TOPEKA, KANSAS – Dickinson State  cheer secured a sixth-place finish at the 2026 NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championships, posting a final score of 90.46 against a competitive 15-team field.

The Blue Hawks improved from their preliminary score of 89.82 with a strong showing in the finals, delivering a clean and energized routine to move up the leaderboard and finish among the nation's top programs.

Dickinson State University showcased consistency across both rounds, highlighted by sharp execution in stunts, solid tumbling passes and synchronized motions. The team's ability to elevate its performance in the finals proved critical in securing a top-six national finish.

Xavier University of Louisiana claimed the national championship with a score of 96.13, while Indiana Wesleyan University finished as the national runner-up at 92.72. St. Ambrose University (91.75), University of the Cumberlands(91.73) and Oklahoma City University (91.48) rounded out the top five.

Dickinson State finished ahead of Missouri Valley College (88.44), Florida Memorial University (86.61) and Northwestern College (86.40), separating itself in the upper tier of the standings.

Competing in the final rotation of both preliminary and championship rounds, the Blue Hawks maintained poise under pressure and executed with minimal deductions. Their finals score marked an improvement and reflected the team's continued growth in difficulty and performance quality throughout the season.

Dickinson State will end their season at NCA Nationals in Daytona, FL, April 8th-April 12th.
