COLUMBIA, MO– Dickinson State recorded a third-place finish at the American Midwest Conference Competitive Cheer Championships after advancing through the preliminary round earlier in the day.
The championship event featured a preliminary round to determine the order of final performances. Dickinson State put together a second-place performance in prelims with a score of 91.35 before finishing third overall after the final round score of 94.10 giving them a total score of 93.41.
Preliminary round scores are worth 25 percent of the final score, while final round scores constitute the final 75 percent.
In addition to the team's results, several Blue Hawks earned conference recognition for their performances and achievements throughout the season.
Three Dickinson State athletes were named First Team All-Conference, including Bella Brown, Gustav Kitzan and Xeia Schneider. Two additional Blue Hawks, Jack Jelinek and Tia Madrigga, received Second Team All-Conference honors.
Dickinson State was also recognized in the Group Stunt All-Conference selections. The Blue Hawks' stunt group of Kylee Morrison, Tia Madrigga, Dylan Hawkins and Jack Jelinek earned Second Team All-Conference recognition.
Off the mat, Dickinson State placed six student-athletes on the AMC All-Academic Team, highlighting the program's work in the classroom. Honorees included Andy Williams, Kathryn Brence, Kitara Schark, Kylee Morrison, Tia Madrigga and Xeia Schneider.
Bella Brown was also named the program's Champion of Character award recipient, recognizing her leadership, sportsmanship and commitment to the core values emphasized by the conference.
With a second-place finish in prelims and a third-place result in the finals, Dickinson State capped the conference championship meet with multiple individual honors and strong team performances.
The Blue Hawks continue to build momentum as the postseason approaches, highlighted by conference recognition both academically and competitively.
The Blue Hawks will now await their fate for their chance to compete March 27-28 at the NAIA National Championships in Topeka, Kansas. Schedule is TBD.
