Adarra Hagelund named NAIA Women’s National Athlete of the Week by USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS — Adarra Hagelund of Dickinson State University was named the M-F Athletic NAIA Women's National Athlete of the Week for May 11, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced this week.

A senior from Soldotna, Alaska, Hagelund earned the national recognition following a record-setting performance at the North Dakota State Tune-Up, where she cleared a lifetime-best 1.81 meters (5 feet, 11¼ inches) in the high jump.

The mark moved Hagelund into a tie for third on the all-time NAIA outdoor performance list and was the highest clearance recorded in the NAIA since 2007. Her performance also surpassed her previous season-best mark of 1.79 meters (5-10½), which had already ranked among the nation's top performances this spring.

Earlier this month, Hagelund cleared 1.77 meters (5-9¾) to win the Frontier Conference title and establish the NAIA's top mark at the time.

According to the USTFCCCA, Hagelund benefited from focusing solely on the high jump competition at the NDSU Tune-Up, marking the first time since winning the 2025 NAIA Outdoor national title in the event that she competed in only one discipline.

The M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week award is selected by the USTFCCCA communications staff and recognizes standout performances across collegiate track and field, including NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA divisions.
