HAVRE, Mont.- Blue Hawk men's wrestling dropped a hard-fought road dual Friday night, falling 30-19 to Montana State University-Northern at Armory Gymnasium.
The dual opened at 125 pounds, where senior Wyatt Engwicht earned a forfeit victory, giving the Blue Hawks an early 6-0 advantage. At 133 pounds, freshman Charlie Irwin extended Dickinson State's lead with a decision over Kolten Powers, pushing the team score in favor of the Blue Hawks as the dual moved into the lower-middle weights.
Montana State University-Northern answered at 141 pounds, as Caleb Morales secured a fall at 6:42 against Marcus Mireles to swing momentum back to the Lights. The Blue Hawks responded at 149 pounds, where Hunter Forshee-Kurtz turned in a strong performance, earning a major decision over Jackson Syron to keep Dickinson State within striking distance. Northern regained control at 157 pounds, as Ryan Graves recorded a fall at 4:24 against Ian Mehrens, extending the Lights' advantage. The momentum continued at 165 pounds, where Justin Windauer secured a fall at 5:15 over Jesse Van Baalen.
At 174 pounds, Orion Thivierge added bonus points for Northern with a fall just 25 seconds into the bout against Bradlee Shaw, creating separation on the scoreboard as the dual entered the upper weights. Dickinson State found a response at 184 pounds, as senior Jackson King earned a decision over Nathan Andrina, trimming the deficit late in the dual. The Blue Hawks followed at 197 pounds with another decision, as Donivan Giangregorio defeated Cade Gubler to continue closing the gap. The dual concluded at heavyweight, where Northern's Shane Mattson sealed the outcome with a fall at 15 seconds over Connor Bleymeyer, securing the 30-19 final score.
Dickinson State finished the night with victories across multiple weight classes and showed resilience throughout the lineup, while Montana State University-Northern used key bonus-point wins in the middle of the order to claim the Top-25 dual.

The Blue Hawks will host the University of Jamestown Jimmies on Tuesday, Jan. 13, with first whistle set for 7 p.m. DSU will then close the week Friday, Jan. 16, welcoming Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons for another 7 p.m. dual in Dickinson.
