DICKINSON, N.D. - Dickinson State University faced off Tuesday night inside Scott Gymnasium, earning four match victories and closing strong in a hard-fought 31-21 dual against the University of Jamestown Jimmies.
Jamestown jumped out to an early lead with back-to-back pins to open the night, but the Blue Hawks responded quickly and never backed down. At 141 pounds, Tugg Taylor ignited the home crowd with a momentum-swinging pin late in the third period, putting Dickinson State on the board and settling the lineup after the opening stretch.
DSU continued to apply pressure through the middle of the dual. Ian Mehrens delivered a strong performance at 157 pounds, earning an 11-5 decision and showing control from the opening whistle through the final seconds. While Jamestown picked up key bonus points in the surrounding weights, the Blue Hawks stayed within striking distance and kept the dual competitive throughout.
The closing stretch highlighted Dickinson State's grit in the upper weights. Grayson Beaudrie delivered one of the night's biggest moments at 197 pounds, securing a first-period fall to swing momentum back in favor of the Blue Hawks. Heavyweight Seth Suvak followed by sealing a forfeit victory at 285, closing the dual on a positive note and underscoring DSU's depth at the top of the lineup.
