ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Dickinson State sophomore Xeia Schneider has been named the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tumbler of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The honor is presented by AMCOnTheGo.
Schneider led the Blue Hawks to a runner-up finish at the Northwestern Invite, helping Dickinson State post a score of 85.68 in round one before improving to a 94.05 in round two for a second-place overall finish.
A Dickinson native, Schneider earned 18.4 tumbling points in difficulty while contributing across multiple segments of the routine. In addition to basing stunts, throwing a full basket, basing three pyramid sections and serving as co-point at jumps, she delivered a standout tumbling performance that included an opener cartwheel tuck, two fulls and a two-to-layout pass.
Head coach Cebe Schneider praised both the individual honor and the collective effort behind the performance.
"Every athlete on that performance floor is working extremely hard," said Cebe Schneider. "It's exciting and rewarding for a team member to be voted on by the conference as the outstanding athlete of the week in a specialty area. She is a powerful tumbler and adds a lot to the routine in many areas. We are happy for her and proud of her. Way to go Xeia!"
Schneider's recognition highlights Dickinson State's continued growth early in the season as the Blue Hawks prepare for upcoming AMC competition.
